What is Single Sign-On (SSO)?

Single sign-on, also known as SSO, allows users to access multiple applications by signing in with just one existing account. SSO is most useful when you have multiple systems that can be accessed with a single password and you don't want the system to reauthenticate every time a user disconnects from a particular service. This is very convenient for users because they only need to identify once and maintain a valid session for the rest of the applications using SSO.
