How to Show a Specific Part of a YouTube Video in Sendsteps

Sendsteps makes it easy to play embed specific parts of YouTube videos into your presentations if you for instance have a question about this, you can add a question after this video. Follow these steps to customize and add a YouTube video to your slide, and engage your audience with a question right after.

Step 1: Customizing the YouTube Video URL

If you want to show only a specific part of a YouTube video, you’ll need to modify the video URL to include start and (optionally) end times.

Adding Timestamps to the URL

To specify when the video starts and stops, add the following parameters to the YouTube URL:

  • start=: Defines the start time in seconds.
  • end=: (Optional) Defines the end time in seconds.

Example:

  • Start time: 1 minute and 16 seconds → start=76 (1 min × 60 sec + 16 sec = 76).
  • End time: 2 minutes and 30 seconds → end=150 (2 min × 60 sec + 30 sec = 150).

If the original YouTube link is:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VIDEOID

The modified URL becomes:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VIDEOID?start=76&end=150

This ensures the video begins at 1:16 and stops at 2:30 during playback.

Step 2: Copy the URL

Once you’ve customized the URL with the desired timestamps, click the Share button beneath the YouTube video to confirm and copy the modified link OR just easily copy the URL.

Step 3: Embedding the Video in Sendsteps

  1. Open your Sendsteps presentation.
  2. Click on Add Slide.
  3. Choose the Video question type.
  4. Paste the customized YouTube URL into the video field.

Step 4: Adding a Question After the Video

To make your presentation interactive and engage your audience further, follow these steps to add a question right after the video:

  1. After embedding the video, click on Add Questionn.
  2. Select a Question Type (e.g., multiple choice, open-ended, word cloud, etc.).
  3. Enter your question in the provided field.

This ensures your audience remains engaged and provides an opportunity to discuss the content of the video or test their understanding.

Your presentation is now ready to captivate your audience with a dynamic combination of video and interactive questions! 🎥✨
